Protests are planned in major cities against the Iranian dictators. Perhaps this is the year we can get him locked up for taking American hostages in Tehran.

NY hotel refuses to host Ahmadinejad

Helmsley Properties management cancels event scheduled to host Iranian president after being approached by United Against a Nuclear Iran organization. ‘Neither the Iranian Mission nor President Ahmadinejad is welcome at any Helmsley facility,’ says hotel spokesman

Today I am fed-up and sick of NPR’s Doublespeak

As I Twittered (or it is twitted?) this AM:

NPR news just called Iran pres “critic of Israel.” That’s like calling a serial killer “a critic of people.”

NPR was discussing Bibi’s upcoming talk, and whether Bibi would discuss the situation with Iran. They actually referred to the Iranian Madman Ahmedstolehisjob, the man who wants to “wipe Israel off the map,” and is building the means to do so, as a “critic of Israel.” I nearly threw up.

NPR, CNN, they deal with the elections in Iran as if they are in some kind of legitimate democracy. Boker Tov Chevre – you are on some kind of permanent trip, you took too many shrooms at Wakarusa, you are living in a skunky haze at an LA Farmacy. You are totally out of touch with reality. Iran is an Islamic Totalitarian theocracy with a fascist hold on the media, and a misogynist, xenophobic, anti-Jewish agenda. They arrest and imprison political prisoners at will, funnel millions of dollars to terror groups like Hizbollah and Hamas, advocate the genocide of the Jewish people. Sheesh.

While we might not love Bibi, he is the least humble Israeli politician in history, he was elected in an uncontested contest. Bibi’s opponents were not arrested after his victory. His police did not shoot at and tear gas protesters in the streets. Bibi did not turn off access to mobile phone texting, twitter, BBC, and a host of other media to lock out his people. Why oh why do they equate the two?

Makes me start to appreciate FOX, oy vey. George Orwell? Where are you George?

Let’s Go Muslim! Cole gets Colberized

cole-and-colbertJuan Cole, one of my least favorite apologists for radical Islam, flawed critic of Israel, and totally unjewlicious, was on The Colbert Report.

You might remember Juan from the many times we have discussed him here. How he lied and claimed that Ahmadinejad never said “Wipe Israel off the map.”

I don’t have the time or patience to go over his convoluted ideas. However, his basic thesis in Engaging the Muslim World is that America is not engaging 1 billion Muslims, 90 percent of Muslims are against “terror” (he never defines it), and that the guys marching Death to America in the Muslim street all want visas to come to visit Disneyland.Wow, that means they love America, right Juan? Coming to a great terror target built by an anti-Semitic creep really drives home a vision of tolerance.

Cole’s hallucinatory ideas: that wanting a visa to live let’s say in Minneapolis, or Dearborn, the largest Muslim American enclave, makes a guy who calls for “Death to America” actually a real American patriot in training. It is terribly unconvincing, especially with the reports that Somali Muslim youth are being recruited in the US to wage Jihad in Somalia.

Watching this video is SO very liberating. Watch Cole giddy and nerdy sitting across from Colbert. Cole seems a lot less threatening to Israel and the world sitting opposite Colbert.

The best line:

Cole: This book is a wonderful tour tour guide…
Colbert: Alright! This is like “Let’s Go Muslim?”

Bush following Obama’s lead on Iran?

First the Bush administration and company were ridiculing Sen. Obama for saying he would negotiate directly with Iran – even with the Mad Man from Tehran if terms were right. The level of acrimony was intense, but the poo didn’t stick. In other words, Americans are far more worried about their paycheck and their jobs and how far their house values have fallen, to care that much about whether Iran is in our diplomatic orbit. Pundits on the left and right aside, this issue slide off the table, caused Obama no hard – except among hawkish folks that don’t trust him anyway.

Next we had the news last week that Burns was going to a meeting with Iranians in Europe. Burns is the number 3 person at the State Department:

In a departure from long-standing policy, the State Department announced Wednesday Under Secretary of State William Burns, the third-highest US diplomat, will join the EU-led discussions with Iran’s nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili.

Of course State were quick to point out that Burns will not look at the Iranians, or even toss spitballs.

And now was have leakage of a story about the possibility of opening a diplomatic post in Iran.

PARIS: The Bush administration is considering establishing an American diplomatic presence in Iran for the first time since relations were severed during the 444-day occupation of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran nearly three decades ago, European and U.S. officials said.

The idea would be to open a so-called interests section, rather than a fully staffed embassy, with U.S. diplomats who could issue visas to Iranians seeking to visit the United States. But the officials, who spoke Thursday on the condition of anonymity under diplomatic rules, cautioned that the idea had not been approved by the White House and could be delayed or blocked by opposition within the administration.

The general Bushistic approach to diplomacy with Iran —rejection, isolation, name-calling, middle finger wagging— is crumbling faster than you can say “reduction in Gulf tensions will result in a drop in oil prices which would help certain folks get elected to the white house.”

Ok. That might not be what is going on here. What matters is that Bush & Co. slandered Obama for his position on Iran – be it good, bad, or other – and now is pursuing the same course. Yes, Burns is not President, but it’s a slippery slope. It goes something like this:

First you have friends that want to set you up, and you tell everyone that you would never date someone like that. Finally, you realize that your obstinacies and stubbornness have not gotten you where you want to be, so you reconsider and ask your friends to set you up. You will not go out with them, but you suggest that you should meet at a party. Less pressure, not so obvious.

So they set up a party where you get a chance to see them across the room. You pretend not to be too interested, but end up speaking in a corner, hoping not to draw to many stares and attention. After all you had told everyone that you would never ever ever date someone like that.

When you get home you make a few phone calls, and before you know it you are on a date going out for coffee. We all know where this is going….

The Hostage Taker

mahmoudTwenty-two years ago today Mahmoud Ahmadinejad led an attack on the American Embassy. As part of the planning committee, he helped organize and ultimately participated with and another 300-500 students as they attacked the embassy and started the “Tehran hostage crisis.” Jimmy Carter was president. After releasing women and African American hostages, they experienced long periods of solitary confinement, and for months were forbidden to speak to one another. What was Carter’s response? He did not declare this an act of war. On the contrary, he appealed on humanitarian grounds, and proposed that Iran and the US form an anti-Communist alliance. He seemingly ignored the fact that clerics and imams in control considered the US a great Satan, and the country that had given refuge to the Shah.

“Carter applied economic and diplomatic pressure on Iran: oil imports from Iran were ended on November 12, 1979, and through the issuance of Executive Order 12170, around US$8 billion of Iranian assets in the U.S. were frozen by the Office of Foreign Assets Control on November 14. Many Iranians in the U.S. were also expelled. *

None of this worked. And the failed “rescue” attempt six months later was also a disaster.
The 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days

Right now in Iran there are Americans being held against their will on phony charges.

Of course, the Iranian madman’s office vehemently deny that Mahmoud was a hostage taker. One look at this picture taken during the crisis at the US Embassy, and the testimony of former hostages though tell a different story.

Mahmoud, the hostage taker, is a lying, calculating madman, holding the world hostage with his threats of nuclear weaponry. If history is any judge, he has nothing to fear from America for his actions.
